Siblings Together quilt top so far

I managed to get a little more sewing done on the quilt top for the Siblings Together event which is being hosted by a wonderful lady called Lynne of Lily's Quilts.  There is a joint giveaway happening over on her blog right now where you could win fabrics to make a quilt top for this charity event.  The other party holding the giveaway is a very generous lady called Katy at I'm A Ginger Monkey.

I am enjoying sewing for this charity event but I am finding it so hard to make creative decisions about my quilt top design.

I think its because I want this quilt to be perfect. I feel like this quilt is so important to get right.

Usually, I just wing it but all the quilts I have made so far have either been for me or from a pattern.

I can't decide how I should arrange my blocks, or what colours to use with them. *embarrassed*

I am puzzling over what backing fabric would be right with my top. I think a lovely pattern or spotty fabric. I really don't have anything good in my stash I don't think. *blush*

And don't even get me started on the binding *runs away and hides*

So, all opinions/advice/interference is welcomed - please leave me a comment and help me decide.

Here is what I have so far.

Cheerio - hope you have a fab day xxxx

  1. Hey Liz. This looks like a boy's quilt to me so keep going with colour and probably a spotty back would be my advice. It looks fab!

I ordered some more solids for the front today - Navy, yellow and Turquoise
Still on the look out for the perfect spotty back.

  2. I stumbled on your blog last night through your Owl quilt that Backstitch shop put on Twitter!!
Wow!! it really is wonderful!! Never seen that book before, looks like great boys quilts.
Then when I've search for it again today I realised (my brain is fairly slow!) I'd left a comment earlier on the your Flickr siblings blocks too!!
Sorry for the ramble, your blocks are really great, and they will make a fantastic siblings quilt!!

  4. Personally I'm not keen on having two different types of patterns together so I'd put a bold blue or red on the reverse side of the quilt to complement or match one of your brightest colours :)

And it looks awesome already, some lucky kids out there whoever gets given it :)

  5. I love these blocks so much. They could look really good with white sashing between them, and a nice spotty back. So many options though, I can't wait to see this one progress. Kelly @ Owl and Sewing Cat
