Mini Pencilmania Ta-Dah

Time for a little Ta-Dah today...

The Pencilmania mini is complete.

I have never been so prepared for the end of term.  This is destined to be a teacher appreciation gift for the end of term.

Fortunately, it looks better in real life than in the photographs.

I used a cute FQ of Celebrate Seuss on the back, which has turned out to be my favourite bit!

And it was my first time adding corner triangles for hanging purposes.  I'm always baffled about how to hang a quilt or mini on the wall.  Any recommendations???

I like the pattern but I wish the pencils were a little bigger.  I will definitely make some more of these but maybe enlarge them a bit.

Linking up with the spectacular Plum and June blog - there is a lot of very great stuff going on over there right now.

  2. That is so cute. What a great teacher gift. I'm not sure of a good way to hang mini's but I use that removable stuff that is sticky on both sides - cant remember the name but it is for hanging pictures.

  6. Hello Liz I have linked to the Plum and Jane hop after you so I thought I would pop by and say hello! I was gutted for you when you said on flickr that you wouldn't be able to make FQR - hopefully you will be able to make it next year as it was fantabulous.

Your pencils mini quilt is great - I have finished my quilt for my daughter's teacher too and was feeling quite pleased with myself until my daughter declared that I needed to make something for the 2 teaching assistants too! Argh! I don't have time to make 2 full size quilts so I am going to have to go for something simple like a couple of aprons I think....

  7. I like that you used one fancy pencil among the rainbow pencils, and the zig zag stitch quilting too. I'm sure she will treasure this for years to come.

  8. I love the pencils, would love to try them but I think I'm not skilled enough yet to do them. I also love the back fabric!

  9. This turned out so beautifully! You must be really chuffed. And the teacher will be thrilled to bits. How wonderful for her to have a lasting memory of one of her pupils. I didn't realise it was so small when you were making it, sometimes it's hard to tell the scale in a photograph, I think it's perfect x

  10. Your pencils turned out perfectly! I think it's such a wonderful present for a teacher. Could I please ask you where you ordered the magazine for this pattern from please?
I was hanging a mini up with double sided tape but it kept falling down and so had an ebay search for 'quilt hanger' and a few uk based ones came out. I've ordered one of those giant safety pins as none of them were big enough for the mini!
