It's My Favourite Day of the Week

I love Thursdays now because the Linky party gives me a chance to catch up with all your goings on.

I have had a slow week of sewing this week but I will soon be back on full form, promise.

Thursday Sewing Linky

It's that time of the week again!
I would love to see what you have been sewing or blogging this week.  I'm still struggling to find a good way to keep up to date with all my favourite bloggers {that's you!} since Google Reader disappeared, so I'm hoping that this will be a great way for me to keep up.

I haven't made any progress at all this week {shameful!} but I am thinking of making some Yo-yos or Suffolk Puffs {I think that's what they are called} with the help of my Clover Yo-Yo Maker.  I need a little handsewing project and I am feeling a little off of EPPing at the mo'.

I love making yo-yos but I'm not sure that they ever look very *modern* tp me...

But I will give it a try.

If you have any yo-yo projects, I would love to see.  Otherwise, I hope you'll link up with any recent sewing post below.

Setting August Goals

I really want to get some of my WIPs finished this month.

So, I am linking up with the Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts and bittersweet designs.

My main goal for this month is to decide whether or not I want to make the Feather Quilt top bigger by adding on a flying geese border all around.  If I am adding a border, I'd like to complete it.  If not, I would like to get it quilted before September.

My second goal is to make some tote bags out of some orphan quit blocks.

And third is to try and make some Back to School and Starting Playschool goodies for my gorgeous Dandelions.

Oops and I nearly forgot that I need to finish off the sewing machine cover and swap extra for Sew Sew Modern 3.

What do you want to make/finish before the end of the month?

Yippee! Explored!

Yesterday something a little bit exciting happened.

The littlest Dandelion has been poorly {this, of course, is not the exciting bit} with a temperature for the last few days, so I had a little bit of extra sewing time; the only perk to having a small sickly child has to be a return to daytime naps.  As a result, I managed to get the Sewing Machine cover quilted.

It was a wonderful sewing day... you know, one of those days where every stitch goes perfectly.

I remembered to make my quilt sandwich with the right needle punched side of the batting up.  I didn't even know about there being a right way or a wrong way for batting until the Fat Quarterly Retreat class with Trudi!

I popped a new *topstitch* needle size 90 in my machine, rather than ploughing on with the same old piecing needle that was probably a universal one.

I even remembered to lengthen my stitch to 4.0 and, with my walking foot at the ready, I was off on a randomly spaced straight line quilting bonanza.

I uploaded a few photos to Flickr and added one to the Sew Sew Modern swap group and then I had to rush out with my little girl who was dancing at a local fete.

It was there that my mobile telephone started to beep...

I am not a prolific texter and I quite neglect my mobile in fact, so it was a surprise to me when the regularity of it's notifications make a sound like some old rave anthem.

Guess what!  My ickle old photo got put on Flickr Explore... yippee! *proper geek out moment*  It's pretty exciting when the number of views on a photo hits the thousands.

Sew Sew Modern 3

Back to the project though, after all the heady excitement of Explore...

I'm pretty happy with how this is coming together :understatement:

Thankfully, this cover doesn't fit my sewing machine, otherwise I think I would really have a hard time putting this in the post!  Even more exciting is that the recipient of this secret swap item has commented on the photo saying that she likes what she sees, which is truly fabulous news.

Happy Sunday all

Making Progress...

I've been working on the Sew Sew Modern #3 project.

Even though the paper pieced feather took such a long time to make {and created the most amount of mess ever!}, I really think paper piecing can make something extra special.

I added more little plus blocks to the collection...

and some geese...

I can't wait to get this project finished now.  I love the quilting part of any project the most.
